Volunteering Updates!

The Riverview School District and Carnation Elementary Guidelines on volunteering have been announced. We now have a clear plan of action for those of you who have been patiently waiting.

All volunteers for the school and/or PTSA need to complete the Riverview School District Volunteer Application. Click here to complete this online application.  All school volunteers must renew their background checks every two years. It is a good idea to login and verify your information is current.

Vaccination or Exemption verifications

Once your application is complete and approved you can proceed with the next step of vaccine verification or exemption, followed by attending a Volunteer Orientation. You may email a copy of your card to the office at staufferh@rsd407.org OR bring a copy of your card to volunteer orientation. If you are requesting an exemption, please email Mrs. Bookey at bookeyt@rsd407.org for directions.

Volunteer Orientations                                 

• All Carnation Elementary volunteers will be required to attend a Volunteer Orientation prior to their first volunteer time.
• The orientation will be facilitated by Mrs. Bookey and will review safety and health protocols as well as general expectations for volunteers. Please call the office at 425-844-4550 to sign up for an orientation session.

Safety and Health Protocols for Carnation Elementary Volunteers

• 1 Volunteer per classroom teacher per day.
• District volunteer application must be complete.
• Approval of the classroom teacher and principal has been given
  • Teacher approval first
  • Principal approval based on completion of orientation process.
• Volunteer has attended a volunteer orientation with Bookey.
  • safety and health protocols, expectations for working with students (confidentiality, role in student safety concerns) and how to use workroom equipment.
  • A shared document with teachers will be updated as volunteers complete orientation.
• Volunteers will follow the same safety and health protocols as all adults in the building
• Volunteers will sign in and out of the office.
