Carnation Elementary Autism Awareness & Acceptance Week

March 23, 2026

March 23–29
World Autism Awareness Day: April 2

Our school is proud to celebrate Autism Awareness & Acceptance Week. A time to learn, reflect, and celebrate the many ways our students think, learn, and shine. This week focuses on building understanding, kindness, and a strong sense of belonging for all learners.

Why This Matters

Autism Awareness & Acceptance Week helps our school community:
Build empathy and understanding of neurodiversity
Celebrate the strengths, creativity, and individuality of autistic students
Encourage inclusion, respect, and kindness
Create a school culture where every child feels seen and valued
April is recognized internationally as Autism Acceptance Month, with World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, established by the United Nations. During this time, communities around the world come together to promote acceptance, inclusion, and support for autistic individuals and their families.

What’s Happening at School

Wear Blue Day — April 2

Students and staff are invited to wear blue to show support, understanding, and acceptance. We’ll also create a “Blue Kindness Chain” to highlight messages of inclusion and friendship.

iSET Autism Awareness Art Wall

  • A school-wide mural made of student-decorated puzzle pieces with messages of acceptance
  • A student spotlight wall titled “Together, We Belong”, showcasing iSET student artwork
Visit the art wall anytime between March 23–29.

Classroom Learning

Throughout the week, classrooms may explore:
Read-alouds about neurodiversity
Gentle discussions about kindness, differences, and inclusion
Age-appropriate learning about autism and how people experience the world in different ways

How Families Can Join Us
