Rich Cultural Celebrations Surround the Holiday Season!

December 27, 2022

Las Posadasis is celebrated leading up to Christmas Day, from December 16 to 24, and refers to the inn in the traditional Nativity story. The observance dates back to the 16th century in Mexico, and has since spread to many parts of Latin America as well as Latinx/Latine communities in the United States.  Celebrations often include a reenactment of Mary and Joseph’s journey into Bethlehem and, depending on the region or community, gatherings of family and friends or community-wide celebrations.

We love the multi-lingual events hosted by Carnation Elementary. We are a community of inclusivity and diversity and we love to celebrate and learn from others! Big thanks to all those who contributed and volunteered their time.  Those in attendance got to learn how to make piñatas, enjoy Buñuelos, taste Mrs. Bookey’s Apple Cider Tea, and create community with Carnation Tiger families!

PTSA Grant for field trip to The Nutcracker!

December 9, 2022

One of the joys of PTSA is giving grants to teachers to help cover some costs of classroom activities and field trips. For Mrs. Panesko’s 5th grade class, we recently were able to help send them to see George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. What a beautiful way to bring art and culture to the kids. We hope they had a great time! Every dollar donated means more opportunities for us to make events like this accessible for all of our students- current and future! Thank you so much!

A great update from the Washington State PTA!
