Autism Awareness Presentations
April 6, 2026
Have you heard about the inspiring Autism Awareness Presentations happening throughout our school?
Building a culture of kindness and inclusion starts with understanding. These engaging, age-appropriate classroom presentations focus on teaching students how to be supportive friends to peers on the autism spectrum. Created by a local parent and Special Education Director of the PTSA, Melissa Baksa, who was inspired by raising two sons on the spectrum and recognizing a need for greater awareness, these presentations help students better understand differences in communication, behavior, and sensory needs. Through thoughtful discussion and relatable examples, students gain practical tools for showing empathy, building meaningful connections, and creating a more inclusive and welcoming classroom for everyone.
Our goal is for Melissa’s presentation to reach every single classroom at Carnation Elementary & beyond!
